Throughout the last 13 years I have developed many skills in the fields of communications, public relations and social media. Through my broadcast background, I am able to work with tight deadlines, and I can create and give presentations within minutes. Additionally, I have a unique skill of disseminating complex information and breaking it down into simple terms.
Social Media Management
As the use of technology expands, more people are receiving the latest news from social media rather than their television sets. I have embraced this changing tide by developing a strong social media presence on Twitter, Facebook and my Blog through daily posts containing plenty of content through engaging graphics and video. I manage my analytics for social media and my website daily through programs like Chartbeat and CrowdTangle. This assists me in visualizing what the consumers are interested in and what times are the best for engaging with them. My success with social media has awarded me to be ranked in the Top 50 Best Meteorologists in Social Media by TheSocReports
computer graphics
My skills and knowledge of computer graphics have allowed me to create detailed graphics for use on-air and on-line. Former coworkers enlisted my help with creating both complicated as well as last minute graphics. I am skilled in using Photoshop, Illustrator and Premier. Additionally, I very proficient with using the IBM (WSI) MAX Ecosystem.
Public Relations
Throughout the last 13 years, I have become very involved with various avenues of public relations. I deliver information sessions to schools, social groups, emergency managers, and local city leaders. I created a electronics recycling campaign in Baton Rouge called "Recycle Your Electronics Day." It was one day a year where people could bring their old electronics to a location to be recycled by the Capital Area Corporate Recycling Council (CACRC). I have also been active volunteering with the American Red Cross, Boy Scouts and Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer local chapters. Additionally, I also continue to grow my weather consulting business through my contacts in the local law firms.
